Booking Directly on Our Website
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before completing your booking.
- Program fees are in euros (EUR). Use xe.com to check today's exchange rate in your currency before booking
- The booking deposit is in Euro (EUR) and is paid via Credit Card/Stripe at the time of booking
- The booking deposit is not refundable
- The balance is paid by bank transfer. You will receive our bank details by return email before your payment due date
- If you prefer to pay the balance by credit card, a 10% surcharge applies.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
In the case that a stay with us is cancelled the following refund rules apply:
- Stays can be cancelled free of charge until 30 days before the start of the program. The booking deposit is non-refundable.
- For cancellations made between 30 days and 1 day before the start of the program, the Pupu Rangi Nature Sanctuary will apply a 40% penalty charge on the payment received (excluding the booking deposit which is not refundable). 60% of the payment received will be refunded.
- For cancellations made on the day the program starts or after the start of the program, there are no refunds.
- Changes to the start date requested up to 30 days before the start of the program are free of charge. Changes to the start date requested between 30 days and 1 day before the start of the program are subject to a 10% penalty (based on the balance payment). All changes to the start date are subject to availability. If there is no availability for the new date, the volunteer has the option to cancel the program subject to the cancellation rules above.
Refunds are processed within two weeks of receiving the cancellation notice.
Service Delivery
To ensure participation in the program, payment must be completed as follows:
- Booking deposit at the time of reservation.
- Balance payment due 30 days before the start of the program if you booked directly with us, or 60 days if you booked via a third-party website or organisation.
Cancellation due to Covid-19
Should you test positive for Covid-19 on the day of the pick-up or during the ten days prior to the start of the program, you will be able to change your program dates or receive a full refund at no extra charge.
Missed Pick-up Time on Monday
Should you not be present at the meeting point at the place and time indicated (because you missed a bus connection on the Monday when the program starts) you have three choices:
- Wait seven days and be picked up the following Monday.
- Pay a surcharge of NZD 200 to be picked up from Dargaville on the following Tuesday/Wednesday (depending on driver availability).
- Pay a surcharge of NZD 475 to be picked up from Whangarei on the following Tuesday/Wednesday (depending on driver availability) in the case that the public bus is not running.
Please note that if your bus is simply delayed, we will wait for you — this is not a problem. The morning bus from Auckland to Whangarei is often late.

Who we are

What personal data we collect and why
- Booking data. When you pay a deposit, your name, email address, and payment details are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. We receive your name and email from Stripe after a successful payment in order to send you a booking confirmation and to communicate with you about your stay. This processing is necessary to fulfil our contract with you.
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors use this website. This collects anonymised information including your approximate location, browser type, pages visited, and how you arrived at our site. No personally identifiable information is shared with Google for this purpose. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in improving the website experience.
Who we share your data with
- Stripe — processes your deposit payment securely. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
- Google — provides website analytics. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties.
How long we keep your data
Booking records (name, email, and stay dates) are kept for the duration of the program season and for up to three years thereafter for accounting and legal compliance purposes. Analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics' default retention settings.
Your rights
If you are located in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Australia, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of the personal data we hold about you. You may also object to processing or request a portable copy of your data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at pupurangi.naturesanctuary@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
